Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Life Together
A young minister is prone to try to attain by one jump the height which other have reached by a long series of single steps in the labor of a quarter of a century.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones
Fear not for the church of Christ when ministers die and saints are taken away. Christ can ever maintain His own cause. He will raise up better servants and brighter stars. The stars are all in His right hand . Leave off all anxious thought about the future, cease to be cast down by the measures of statesmen or the plots of wolves in sheeps clothing. Christ will ever provide for His own church. Christ will take care that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. All is going on well though our eyes may not see it. The kingdoms of this world shall yet become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ.
J.C. Ryle
Robert Murray M’Cheyne
Be the type of man that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan says, “Oh crap, he’s up!”

If there is not struggle, there is no progress.
Frederick Douglass
First of all my child, think magnificently of God, Magnify His Providence; adore His Power, pray to Him frequently and incessantly. Bear Him always in your mind. Teach your thoughts to reverence Him in every place for there is no place where He is not. Therefore, my child fear and worship and love God; first and last, think magnificently of Him!
Paternus, Advice to a son

Cheap grace is grace without discipleship,….
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship
When you enter into a heart relationship with God learn to discern his voice:
1) Seek to get your heart into such a state that it has no will of its own in regard to a given matter.
2) Do not leave the result to feeling or simple impression; otherwise you are liable to great delusions.
3) Seek the will of the Spirit of God through, or in connection with, the Word of God. The Spirit and the Word must be combined.
4) Next, take into account providential circumstances. These often plainly indicate God’s will in connection with His Word and Spirit.
5) Ask God in prayer to reveal His will to you correctly.
So,
(1) through prayer to God,
(2) the study of the Word, and
(3) reflection,
you get a deliberate judgment according to the best of your ability and knowledge, and if your mind is at peace, and continues after two or three more petitions, proceed accordingly.
George Mueller
Godliness is more easily feigned in words than in actions.
Johnathan Edwards
Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.
C.S. Lewis
If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them task and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
John C. Maxwell
We don’t accomplish anything in this world alone… and whatever happens is the result of the whole tapestry of one’s life and all the weavings of individual threads form one to another that creates something.
Sandra Day O’Connor
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
Henry Ford
According to scripture, virtually everything that truly qualifies a person for leadership is directly related to character. It’s not about: style, status, personal charisma, clout, or worldly measurements of success. Integrity is the main issue that makes the difference between a good leader and a bad one.
John MacArthur
To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.

Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers who can cut through the argument debate and doubt to offer a solution everybody can understand.
Colin Powell
